I never thought I would leave the John L. Scott office on Mercer Island. While there, I achieved great success, culminating in my membership in their President's Elite group. I truly could not see any reason to move. When Julie Nugent asked me to meet with her, I did so simply as a courtesy. As she spoke about her brokerage, her belief in a "team" environment was clear. When I interviewed for the "right" office to join, two things stood out for me about Julie Nugent. First, she owns the office, and as a result is heavily invested in its success. And she is extremely personable and far more sincere than other brokers I spoke with. This combination was a winner in my book. In a previous career I saw firsthand the differences that occur when "management" is not "ownership". While I was there, the company transitioned from a private partnership to a publicly traded company. The transition was illuminating in clearly showing the difference between the ways in which owners manage their business, versus the way managers handle someone else's business. As an owner, Julie cares - and it shows!

For me, it all comes down to our broker, Julie Nugent. Julie is very different from most brokers I know -- she is very "hands-on", and will do anything she can to help an agent advance in this business. Extremely intelligent and knowledgeable, she stays current on important topics such as technology, real estate laws and common practices, and world events. Most importantly, Julie has created an environment that makes it impossible for an agent to fail if they have the drive and intelligence to succeed. Julie has many outstanding qualities, but perhaps the finest is her amazing curiosity, coupled with the ability to fearlessly embrace change. She excels at providing assistance. I've never heard her say she didn't have the answer to a question without following with, "but I will find out and let you know." And she does just that!
